HOW DO I KNOW I'M OR BECOMING OBESE?
There are no specific signs and symptoms associated with obesity but excess weight can be determined by assessing Body Mass Index(BMI) or Mid-abdominal(waist) girth.
_____BMI____
This is easily done by dividing your weight(in kilograms) by the square of your weight(in metres)........i guess that's a little bit of maths?
Example...
For a weight of 50kg & height of 1.5m;
BMI=50/(1.5*1.5)
BMI=22.22kg/m sq.
Got it?
BMI range:
18.5-24.9=ideal weight
25.0-29.9=overweight
30.0-34.9=obese
Above 35=severely obese
Where do you fall?
MID-ABDOMINAL /WAIST CIRCUMFERENCE
Directly measure the girth of your waist with a tape measure.
RANGE:
adult female......
80cm/32inches & below=ideal girth
88cm/35inches & above=abdominal obesity.
adult male......
94cm/37inches & below=ideal girth
102/40inches & above=abdominal obesity.
**NON PHARMACOLOGICAL TREATMENT**
this mainly aims at reducing weight at least by 10% within about 24 weeks......
~regular physical activity(30 minutes;3 days a week)
~dietary changes under a Dietician's supervision.
~behavioral changes.
